Wilson Reading System
A structured reading program for students whose difficulty with reading and writing hasn't resolved on its own.
The Wilson Reading System applies the same principles as Orton-Gillingham, organized into a twelve-step program for students in second grade and up who are significantly behind in decoding and spelling. Students master each step before moving on to the next.
Older elementary, middle, and high school students who are still working on the mechanics of reading while their classmates have moved on to reading on their own. It’s often the right next step after lighter interventions haven't been enough.
Consistent ten-part lessons using sound cards, word building, controlled reading, and dictation. The structure is predictable so the student knows what's coming next and can track their own progress step by step.
