Our approach

Wilson Fundations

A playful, structured phonics foundation for kindergarten through third grade.

What it is

Fundations is a multisensory approach that teaches K–3 students letters, sounds, handwriting, and spelling in a sequence. The materials are hands-on and physical, using sight, sound, and touch to help young children learn.

Who it’s for

Young children who are showing early signs that reading isn't coming easily, or whose kindergarten and first-grade classrooms are moving faster than their letter-sound knowledge.

What a session looks like

Sky-line, plane-line, grass-line, worm-line: the visual guidelines Fundations uses to teach where each letter sits on the page, with letters traced in the air before a pencil is introduced. Sound drills with picture cards, tapping out words on fingers, a dry-erase board that gets erased and redone. It feels like a game, but every step is carefully sequenced.

Ulana's take
The kindest thing you can give an emerging reader is early structure, before struggle has a chance to become identity.
